School District No. 23
School District No. 23 has the same boundaries as the Regional District and has an annual operating budget of approximately $145 million. Approximately 22,000 students from Kindergarten to Grade 12 are enrolled each year in local schools. There are 35 Elementary/Middle and 5 Secondary schools in addition to alternative education services conveniently located in the School District. School District No. 23 (Central Okanagan) has a number of special programs available including a partnership with BCIT to offer innovative Certificate programs; Career Programs which assist students in attaining their career and occupational objectives; and First Nations and French Immersion programs.

UBC Okanagan opened in September 2005 as a distinctive, small university campus.
